This position is responsible for daily technical oversight of the IT operations. The incumbent manages the work and effort of the IT teams by functioning as the IT Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Manages professional and technical staff responsible for all phases of the system development and implementation process including analysis, design, development, testing, and ongoing support for the client area application systems in an environment of diverse development platforms, computing environments (including host based, distributed systems, client server, and Internet), software, hardware, technology, and tools.
- Works with business analysts, project leaders, clients, and functional management to review and analyze short- and long-term business requirements; recommends product innovations; and presents and demonstrates application products to executive level management.
- Manages and assigns personnel to applications development projects; reviews the work of the junior staff, and prepares performance evaluation reports.
- Performs and supervises software development, including preparation of new software, reuse of existing code, modification of existing programs, or integration of purchased solutions, and unit testing and debugging.
- Leads and manages multiple applications development projects from initial concept through design, implementation, and quality assurance (QA), to delivery and maintenance of the product, utilizing state-of-the-art development tools.
- Coordinates activities with IT unit leads, including database, telecommunications, operations, and technical support managers.
- Plans and prepares activity and progress reports for the section, and provides reports to group associate director or director throughout the complete life cycle.
- Identifies technical issues and evaluate alternatives to select the most efficient and cost-effective methodologies.
- Establish and manage internal system process and procedures.
- Train employees in IT related equipment and software.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
- Demonstrate significant experience in formulating, directing, and approving technical work plans.
- Demonstrate significant experience in managing technical projects and staff in support of new technical initiatives.
- Requires strong project management experience, with the capability of managing multiple projects with a high degree of complexity.
- Strong knowledge of various computer languages, database administration, information security, operating systems, infrastructure design, IT architecture, standards, systems integration, and technical documentation is preferred.
- Advanced Technical Knowledge in the following fields;
- Network infrastructure (Cisco Hardware, HP Procurve and other)
- Firewalls (Cisco Pix, ASA)
- Windows and Linux Server administration
- Exchange Server 2007
- MSSQL Server
- MAS 200 ERP
- VMWare ESX
- Custom Web Applications support
- Smart phones (windows and apple)
- Desktop support (Windows and Mac)
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (any), Computer Science, Business Administration, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems or related field or equivalency.
- Five years of experience managing multiple applications which include development projects from initial concept through design, implementation, and QA to delivery and maintenance of product and application program development alternatives.
